Ceiling skirting boards are designed to give a complete look when finishing walls and ceilings. They cover the remaining cracks and influxes at the joints of the walls with the ceiling, and visually decorate and decorate the room.
The choice of a ceiling baguette
At the initial stage of choice, the consumer is faced with two questions.
The first, of which – how much it is necessary to purchase skirting boards. The amount of material is calculated after measuring the perimeter of the room. Basically, the standard baguette length is 2 meters, so it is necessary to divide the perimeter into the length of one skirting board, in our case, in half, increasing the resulting result in a large way. Because when adjusting the size and docking of the corners, some of the baguette will go into waste.
The second question is the need to decide on the width of the shelf baguette. Here you can rely to your taste, not forgetting to observe the proportionality of the size of the baguette and the pasted room.
Choosing glue for a ceiling baguette
When choosing the adhesive composition, you can follow the recommendations of the manufacturer and the instructions in the instructions. Often “liquid nails”, glue “moment-installation”, glue “primus” and “SM-11” are recommended. But in some cases they resort to the help of ordinary putty.
Playing begins with any corner of the room, the corners are cut with a small hacksaw, or with a simple knife, and join 45 degrees. Corner or direct junction is made with a sharp knife at the place of gluing. Having the skirting board on the ceiling, there is no need to repeat all the bends and irregularities of the ceiling, on the contrary, the skirting line should be as direct as possible. Possible cracks and defects at the joints are hidden using acrylic sealant using a mounting pistol, or ordinary putty. Excess is removed with a damp cloth or sponge. If it was not possible to remove the influxes during the installation of the baguette, then after drying you can apply fine -grained grinding paper and wipe the defects.
Decorative staining of ceiling skirting boards
For staining the baguette, the same paint will be used as for the ceiling. Sometimes, in order to decorate, the shade of the baguette may differ from the main color on the ceiling. The application of paint is carried out with a roller of the required width in 2-3 layers. To achieve a clear border between the painted baguette and the wall, masking tape is used.
