The Disciplinary Committee of the North American Major League Soccer (MLS) has fined Inter Miami players Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, the organization’s website reports.
In the opening match of the regular championship of the new season, Inter Miami played a draw with New York City (2:2) on the night of February 23, Messi made two assists. During the break, Suarez got into an altercation with New York defender Birk Risa and grabbed him by the neck. Messi made a similar move after the game towards the assistant head coach of the opposing team.
Both players were fined for violating the rule regarding touching the face, head or neck of an opponent. The amount of the fine is not announced.
