Two panda cubs are making their debut at a Hong Kong amusement park. They are a brother and sister. They are already six months old. At birth, the babies weighed about 120 grams, and now each weighs more than 10 kilograms.
On the day of their first meeting with the public, the brother decided to sleep in a hammock, and his sister curiously explored the new enclosure. The cubs do not yet have official names. The zoo has already announced a public competition. The two best options will be chosen from the proposed ones. The names will be announced in the first half of the year.
The twins’ mother is called Ying Ying. She gave birth to them a day before her 19th birthday and went down in history as the oldest panda in the world to give birth to cubs.
The brother and sister will join four other pandas at Ocean Park. Hong Kong now has a total of six bamboo bears. This is the largest number of giant pandas outside mainland China living in captivity in one place.
Ocean Park covers an area of 90 hectares. It is the largest theme park in Hong Kong. A large mountain divides the area into two zones. They are connected by a system of cable cars and a funicular. In addition to the enclosures with animals, the park has an aquarium and rides.
