As a rule, the construction of houses begins in the warm season: in early autumn, spring or summer. This is a fairly common practice, and most contractors will never agree to start building in winter. It would seem, really – well, why might need to build a building in the cold and snow?
However, not all builders adhere to a similar opinion. Some advise starting construction in this frosty period. It turns out that this has its own share of truth, and after thinking, all the advantages of such a solution become obvious. However, like the shortcomings.
Firstly, this implies significant savings in the purchase of building materials. Winter is one of the least demanded periods for manufacturing companies, so they try to sell their goods at a much lower price. In winter, you can profitably purchase brick, boards, concrete and other materials necessary for construction.
Secondly, this accelerates the construction process itself. As a rule, houses that began to be built in the summer or late spring, in the winter, according to the plan, they should be subjected to “wet” work – decoration of the facade, plaster and so on. However, such work cannot be carried out in the cold, so all winter they are idle without external finishes, and grief of hosts have to wait for spring. And if the construction of the house was started in winter, then by spring builders can begin to carry out the finish without a break in work.
Thirdly, this period is most favorable for the construction of wooden houses. The fact is that in winter, when the temperature is both at night and during the same level, the shrinkage of a wooden log house occurs much faster, more reliable and safer: for example, the risk of cracks in it is minimal. In addition, this negates the possibility of a fungus or mold.
Opponents of winter construction give an example many disadvantages. However, it should be remembered that the whole danger of any of them completely depends on the experience and skill of the construction team. It is easy to avoid problems. So, for example, soil studies need to be carried out to avoid precipitation in the spring. Pouring the foundation is possible, but it is necessary to heat concrete so that it does not freeze. And antimorosis mixtures are added to the solution for laying bricks. Experienced builders will be able to cope with all this.
