By making cosmetic repairs in the house with your own hands, you can save well, including painting wooden doors. This work on the shoulder is even a non -specialist. The main thing in this case is to choose the right paint materials and observe several simple rules during the work.
Choose materials
For updating at home, you can use two types of colors:
• acrylic;
• Alkyd.
The advantage of the first is that they are not smell, but they should be fixed with a special varnish. In this case, the painted surface will be matte. Alkyd paints have a pungent odor, so it is necessary that the room where the work is performed is well ventilated. Beautiful glossy effect and reliable door protection from minor damage compensate for these inconvenience.
Preparatory work
Having removed the door, first of all, we remove accessories from it: loops, handles, etc. p. Then wipe with a damp cloth. When painting, the door leaf should be in a horizontal position, this will help to avoid unwanted Subtecs. It can be installed on the table or several kitchen stools, or preferably on a workbench. Using a spatula and a construction hair dryer, we remove the old paint. It is necessary to completely clean, otherwise when applying a new layer, the previous ones may be swollen. After that, the canvas must be cleaned with sandpaper. All existing cracks and chips are closed with putty for wood work.
We paint correctly
In order for the old door to look beautiful, new painting should be done in several stages. First of all, we cover the entire surface with a primer. This can be a special solution or paint diluted with a solvent, which will continue to continue the main work. Drying the processed canvas should last at least a day.
After drying the primer, apply the first layer of paint. To do this, it is better to use the roller, as it distributes the paint even, moreover, the brush can lose hairs. When the first layer dries, the surface, if necessary, can be treated once again with sandpaper. Next, the second layer is applied, if this is not enough, then we paint again.
After the painted surface dries well, return the fittings to its place and set the door to the opening.
